Weekly round-up: Mobile Office Apps, Street Art and Micro Luggage!

All the Christmas and New Year festivity may be disappearing from our streets, but Bristol still buzzes with various attractions as always. This week at the Hippodrome we saw two ballet classics - Swan Lake and the Nutcracker performed by the Russian State Ballet.

Pet lovers will also be excited to see the Reigning Cats and Dogs exhibition starting this Friday at The Royal West of England Academy.

Last week we mentioned the 60 Gromit sculptures, scheduled to adorn the streets of Bristol this summer. We are also excited about another street art project coming up in the Bedminster area - the Beautiful Bugs of Bedminster!

This week at the office we've been building a new responsive website, sending a large range of email newsletters out for clients and working on a variety of new tablet apps. Updates to our free Bristol app are also ticking along nicely.

Marketing and social media:

If you are planning to attend some major social media events this year, you may want to check out Jeff Bullas' overview of some key marketing events coming up in 2013.

More and more frequently we may need to take our business with us when we're on the move, this may require some specific mobile management tools. Janet Fouts recommends 8 apps that she found indispensable in her creation of an efficient 'mobile office'.

We wrote quite extensively about hashtags last year and it comes as no surprise to us that the word has been declared 2012's word of the year,. It even beat the omnipresent 'Gangnam Style' and 'YOLO' !

Art, design and technology:

We Bristolians are very proud of our street art but we also know when to appreciate artistic creations from further afield. This week we came across this fantastic photographic street art by Mentalgassi, Berlin art collective. Their large-scale photographic wheatpastes always add a humorous twist to the street surroundings.

Another similar project that caught our eye is this pop culture and cartoon street art by OakOak. A French artist transforms scruffy signage and urban fixtures into amusing street art pieces.

On a slightly different note, if you travel a lot and are tired of covering longer and longer distances at ever-expanding airports on foot, Micro-Luggage could be the answer.

This not-so-ordinary case is mounted onto a scooter which allows you zoom right past all the crowds and arrive in great style.

Here's how it works:
