Another busy week has passed by here in the GWS office. We've been working on promotion for Bookkeepers and Management Accounts specialist, BookCheck and Bristol Family Solicitors Battrick Clark. We're also delighted that our Bristol Unique Guide App has been launched on Android (you can read about the details of that here).

Here's what's been catching our eyes this week:

For Businesses using Social Media:
The biggest news in online marketing this week is that Google has launched 'social search', integrating Google+ into Google search more fully. This is not an unexpected move, particularly considering the increased relevance of social engagement to Google search over the past year, and it will be interesting to see how this develops. There have been various responses to this development: Social Media Examiner focussed on how you can use Google+ to impact search, Bloggertone suggested that this could mean better recommendations and easy access to information about your brand, and from The Economist identified it as a response to the rise of Facebook and a desire to boost revenue.

This development also comes in the wake of news that Google+ had it's highest traffic to date in December. If you haven't joined yet, it might looks increasingly to be worth the effort. Here is a useful guide to getting started on Google +.

New year is always full of resolutions, so why not take the opportunity to check out the new features of social media platforms, like Facebook's new Timeline layout.

Design & Technology

If you invested in an iPad over Christmas, you will be pleased to know that they're pretty tough: someone dropped an iPad from space and it survived! (Definitely falls under the 'don't try this at home' category!)

This in-depth look at the design of product pages on ecomerce sites makes for a very interesting read, lots for anyone selling online to think about.

These amazing sculptures created from carved books caught our eyes this week - what a transformation!

Bristol News
Hot off the press is the news that the legendary Ashton Court Music festival is to be reinvented via the transplantation of Brisfest to the site. Excellent news for all Bristol music fans.

Anyone looking for things to do this week should have a look at list of 10 events and entertainments.
